Mobil Oil was created from the merger of two
oil companies in 1931 to form Socony Vacuum. In 1955 it changed its name
to Socony Mobil Oil and in 1966 the name was shortened to Mobil Oil. It
adopted the image of the flying red Pegasus as its logo, a symbol of speed and
power. |
