Ole Opry radio program, said to be the
longest running radio program in U.S.
history. The Zippo is from 1976
1973 Zippo with the image of a Wurlitzer
Juke Box. The reverse has a signature:
Richard D. Williams. Rudolph Wurlitzer
founded the Company in 1856. At first he
imported musical instruments and opened
sales outlets in all big American cities. He
started production of
pianos in America in 1880
Ernest Tubb,
the Texas Troubadour, was born in 1914. In
1941 he cut his trademark song, "Walking the
Floor over You," a hit that brought him to
the Grand Ole Opry early in 1943. A
barnstorming concert performer for more than
four decades, he was one of country music's
top-selling entertainers. He died in 1984,
the year this Zippo was made.
